Womens Bathing Suits – How to Choose

by Dana Ward on Sep 14, 2010 0

womens bathing suitsMost ladies want womens bathing suits that are flattering and that they can feel comfortable in.  Since women come in different sizes and shapes, there is no one style that is best for everyone.

When choosing a bathing suit, there are several factors to consider.  The right fit, style, and material make all the difference.

The size, shape, and age of a woman can influence what style she chooses.

For example, plus Size women have different requirements in a bathing suit.  The design of a bathingsuit can enhance or conceal her body shape.  A little ruffle skirt added to a one-piece suit not only helps balance her shape, but can make the woman feel more comfortable.  Another “trick” swimsuit designers use when creating styles is the use of pattern.  Strategically placed patterns can fool the eye and make the lady appear less full figured.  Vertical strips and patterns also accomplish this.  Many plus size ladies prefer womens bathing suits that incorporate some form of girdle or tummy control.

Womens Bathing Suits – For Every Shape

Regardless of her weight, women come in different shapes. Some are commonly referred to as, “pear shape, apple shape, rectangle, or hour-glass.” The key to great fashion is balance. Understanding your particular shape is the first step. Pear shape women are larger in the hips than their mid and upper body. Women with an apple shape have an upper body (and possibly waist) that is bigger than their hips. The rectangle shaped women has a shape that is evenly distributed throughout her upper body, torso, and hips. The woman with an hourglass shape has hips and torso similar in size, and has a noticeably smaller waist. Choose a bathing suit that takes your shape into consideration, highlighting your best and minimizing the rest.

Does Age Matter?

Age is a fact that the manufacturers take into consideration when creating womens bathing suits. Teens and juniors often are more likely to choose a bikini or two piece suit. It is more common to find different attributes such as a tie closure rather than a clasp closure in younger styles. In addition, less expensive models tend to have less hardware, which translates to a “shoe string” tie, rather than a bra style clip.

For example, smaller busted women may have more options than larger ladies because of the closure style available. A large busted woman needs the support and proper clip to keep the top on.

Does Size Matter?

Ladies with smaller chests may want a bathing suit that has some padding or molded shape inside the cups. Or, they may opt for a freer, loose look.

Taste in clothing designs tend to change with age. Color choice, patterns, and styles that appeal to young ladies may not appeal to their grandmothers – and vice-versa. It is for this reason that womens bathing suits come in all shapes, styles, and designs.  Slimming swimwear is available in many beautiful designs and patterns.
